In 1963, Louis Muench, Sr., his wife, Doris,and their family moved to Cumberland, Wisconsin, from Chicago where Louie was a meat cutter. He took a position with The Company Store in Cumberland as the Meat Department Manager. In 1970, Louie realized his own dream of ownership and opened the doors to Louie's Finer Meats on Main Street. In 1978, Louie's expanded and moved to its present location on Hwy. 63 on the north end of town.
Through the years, three of the six Muench children have followed in their fathers footsteps. Louis Muench Jr., James Muench, and William Muench have all dedicated their careers to the continued success of Louie's. You can always count on seeing one or more of Muenchs behind the meat counter. Doris can usually be found working a check-out register or stocking the shelves.
Louis Sr., Doris, Louis Jr., James and William would like to invite you to stop by their store in beautiful Cumberland, Wisconsin. Everyone at Louie's takes the utmost pride in our Hometown Atmosphere and great customer service. At Louie's we make sausage with a combination of old school and new school, but any way we make it, you can taste the dedication we put into each sausage!

Louie's Finer Meats was awarded six Gold Medals, two Silver Medals and one Bronze Medal at the International Trade Fair, for the meat industry, which was held in Frankfurt, Germany in May 2007. The sausages were judged by the highest standards for quality of workmanship and flavor. These sausages (listed on the front page and elsewhere on this website) are available at our retail store or online.
